ROXWOOD – A shooting erupted earlier today as the motorcade of Lieutenant Governor Natalie Bennett approached Roxwood Airport, leaving the Lieutenant Governor and a civilian passenger injured.
According to officials, a lone gunman opened fire on the convoy, striking both Lt. Gov. Bennett and the civilian passenger inside the vehicle. Both victims were immediately evacuated by air and transported to a local hospital, where Lt. Gov. Bennett is reported to be in serious but stable condition. The civilian passenger’s condition has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as Cody Landry of San Andreas, was taken into custody following the attack. Landry allegedly fired upon and injured multiple police officers before being subdued by the escort’s counter-assault team. He is currently being held as the investigation continues.
In a press briefing, law enforcement praised the swift response of security teams, stating their actions prevented further loss of life. Officials also emphasized that Lt. Gov. Bennett is receiving “excellent medical care,” though specific details about her injuries were not released.
