High Speed Pursuit Ends with Arrest of John Reeves

DOWNTOWN LOS SANTOS—On January 20, 2025, the San Andreas Highway Patrol (SAHP) successfully apprehended a suspect following a speedy pursuit that lasted over an hour. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old John Reeves of Los Santos, led troopers on a reckless chase across city streets and interstates, endangering the public and law enforcement alike.

The incident began when Staff Sergeant Jake Baker observed a black WMC Nightblade motorcycle driving recklessly through Legion Square at a high rate of speed. When Sergeant Baker attempted a traffic stop on Elgin Avenue, the suspect refused to comply and fled, initiating the pursuit.

Throughout the pursuit, Reeves evaded troopers several times, but diligent efforts by the SAHP ensured visual contact was repeatedly regained. During the chase, troopers employed a tactical maneuver outlined in the San Andreas Highway Patrol Standard Operating Procedures, known as a Rolling Roadblock. This maneuver, described in section 1600.5.3, involves using at least two patrol vehicles to bring a pursuit to an end safely and requires supervisory approval. This maneuver was approved to be used by Staff Sergeant Baker & was carried out by himself, Master Trooper Sanders, and several other patrol units.

Although several attempts to deploy this maneuver on interstate highways were unsuccessful, a final Rolling Roadblock on Sustancia Road ultimately stopped the motorcycle. As officers exited their vehicles to apprehend Reeves, he attempted to steal two highway patrol vehicles. Non-lethal beanbag rounds were deployed, allowing troopers to take him into custody without further incident safely.

Reeves, a known career criminal, pleaded guilty to Felony Evading Arrest and now serves time at Bolingbroke Penitentiary.

The San Andreas Highway Patrol remains committed to ensuring public safety and enforcing the law with professionalism and dedication.
